Owensboro Health: Using CAPD to help physicians with documentation specificity for ICD-10
















Real-time feedback helps prevent CDI and coding queries, makes staff more efficient and productive

    The two graphs below are examples from two hospitals, where during the last 6 months of 2015 increases in CAPD message resolution rate were observed,
    which helped to enable the CDI team to review more inpatient encounters. At the same time, there were also observed decreases in CDI and coding query rates.






    Looking across 22 facilities with a centralized HIM group, overall query rates remained constant while CAPD messages were being resolved because the CDI and Coding teams were able to focus their efforts on the more complex cases requiring their clinical judgement as CDI Engage helped address the "low hanging fruit" at time of documentation capture.
